Troubleshooting Product Photo Studio
Common Issues#
Credits Not Showing#
If your credit balance shows 0 or doesn't match what you expect:
- Check the refresh window — free credits refresh on a rolling 7-day cycle from your first use, not on a fixed weekday
- Check whether you've purchased before — after your first purchase the free weekly allowance stops, and your balance is your purchased credits only
- Verify your account — make sure you're signed in with the correct Figma account
- Refresh the plugin — close and reopen the plugin window
- Check the website — visit My Products for the most accurate balance
Batch Stopped Halfway#
The batch is processed sequentially, and each image is applied to the canvas as soon as it's done:
- Out of credits — the run stops as soon as the balance can't cover the next image. Everything processed up to that point stays applied
- Cancelled — pressing Cancel stops the run after the image currently being processed
- Individual failures — a failed image is skipped, its credit is refunded, and the batch continues with the next one
Re-selecting the remaining images and running again picks up where you left off.
Background Not Fully Removed#
Sometimes the AI might leave artifacts or miss parts of the background:
- Increase image resolution — higher resolution images produce cleaner results
- Improve contrast — images where the product blends with the background are harder to process
- Try a different crop — cropping closer to the product can help the AI focus
- Manual cleanup — for edge cases, use Figma's built-in image editing after processing
The AI handles the vast majority of product shots cleanly. Complex scenarios like hair against similarly-colored backgrounds may need minor manual cleanup.
Processing Failed#
If a step fails:
- Check your internet connection — the AI steps require an active connection
- Verify image format — only JPEG, PNG, and WebP are supported
- Check image size — extremely large images may time out
- Try again — temporary service issues can cause occasional failures (no credits are deducted for failed steps)
Upscale Failed but Background Was Removed#
If the upscale step fails after a successful cutout, the cutout is still applied to your layer and flagged with a warning — the paid work is never discarded. You can re-run the upscale on the result separately.
Plugin Not Responding#
If the plugin window is frozen or unresponsive:
- Close the plugin window completely
- Refresh the Figma page (
Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + R) - Reopen the plugin
- If the issue persists, restart the Figma desktop app
Quality Issues#
Edges Look Rough#
For smoother edges around the product:
- Use higher-resolution source images
- Ensure the product has clear, well-defined edges
- Avoid heavily compressed JPEGs as source images
Output Looks Soft After Resizing#
Resizing up to a large marketplace preset from a small original will look soft. Run Upscale 2× or 4× as part of the same batch — it happens before the resize step, so the final image is sharp.
Hair and Fur Handling#
Fine details like hair and fur are the most challenging for background removal. Tips:
- Photos with good lighting produce better hair separation
- Studio photos against solid backgrounds work best
- Complex hairstyles against busy backgrounds may need minor manual cleanup
Transparent Area Has Color Fringe#
A slight color fringe around the product edge is normal with some images. To minimize:
- Use images with good contrast between product and background
- Apply a slight feather to the edges in Figma after processing
Billing Issues#
Purchase Not Reflected#
After purchasing credits, if they don't appear:
- Wait 1-2 minutes — processing can take a moment
- Return to Figma and reopen the plugin — the balance refreshes automatically
- Check your email for a purchase confirmation
- Visit purchase history on the website
- Contact support with your transaction details
Wrong Amount Charged#
If you were charged incorrectly:
- Check your purchase history for details
- Contact support with the transaction ID
- We'll investigate and issue a refund if needed
Pro Tip
Credits are never deducted for failed steps. If processing fails, your balance stays unchanged — you're only charged for successful results.
